If you want to get fancy and flow text around an image, no luck though.įor me, the fatal flaw with the Blurb plugin for Lightroom was also lack of support for some text features. And you can draw a text box or a photo box of any size wherever you want. Seems like every text box will start out with some random default (not something you picked), and you will need to select your preferred font every single time.īlurb is very versatile when it comes to layout as their templates can be customized (and saved). then it's very tedious to keep switching around. If you just want to write a few captions, no worries, but if your book has a lot of text - and if you want use different fonts for Titles, vs. For me, the biggest limitation of BookWright is when dealing with text. It has the tools you need to to get the job done, but it is no joy to use.

I believe the BookSmart software is no longer under development, now abandoned in favor of BookWright. Blurb reprinted the book at no cost, and I have had no issues with any of the other books. My first order was for a book that included some B&W images that were neutral or warm on my screen, but looked very cool (too blue) in the book. I was very satisfied with the finished product except for one. I have made 4 or 5 Blurb books, but no magazines. I may look at developing a "PhotoTips" ebook as a commercial endeavor (small scale).Īny feedback on your Photo Book creation experiences would be appreciated! I hope to get my first "issue" completed this month, so we will see how it turns out.Īnother interesting addition is that you can turn your magazine into an e-book. It seems to be a bit of a learning curve although there is a downloadable user guide and a number of videos on YouTube from Blurb and others.

There are also 3 preset templates for magazines to use as a starting point. Blurb has software called BookWright, that seems pretty robust. I had thought about using the Blurb book option that is integrated into Lightroom, but it does not accommodate the magazine size/format.

Has anyone had experience using Blurb for producing Photo books? It looks like the quality is good ( I am looking at the Premium Magazine option). A magazine is something that people will pick up and look at casually, rather than a hardcover book. The idea is that I can produce a magazine for each trip and they would be more economical, space saving, and yet still good quality. I came up with the idea of creating a Blurb "Magazine" instead this time. In the past I have used MyPublisher/ShutterFly to produce books and had good success. I am trying to pry some digital images off my hard drive and into a book.
